I painted a lapwing standing in fresh grass against a soft aqua-to-green sky dotted with luminous circles. The bird’s plumage is built up with layered brushwork and delicate detail around the face, while quick, lively marks suggest the swaying blades below. The glowing background contrasts with the bird’s subtle colors, giving the scene a calm, airy feeling without fuss.  A relaxed, nature-forward piece that makes a lovely addition to a living room, hallway, or workspace.

  • Poly-cotton blend canvas with a matte/satin finish. Scratch, crack, and warp resistant.
  • Vibrant, long-lasting colors with water-based HP Latex inks and UV protection.
  • Solid wooden frame from renewable sources, 4 cm deep.

Artist: Robin Aitken

Robin is a contemporary wildlife artist based in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, near Grantown-on-Spey. After a long and successful career in business, IT, and eCommerce, he turned to painting following his move from the south of England to the Cairngorms National Park in early 2020.

Initially inspired by the dramatic landscapes surrounding his new home, Robin began working in oils to capture the beauty of the Highland scenery. Over the past two years, his artistic focus has evolved toward the rich and diverse local wildlife, with a particular emphasis on birds. Working primarily in acrylics, he has developed a distinctive, realistic style that brings his subjects vividly to life.

Today, Robin is an established local wildlife artist, and his highly detailed, lifelike paintings are becoming increasingly sought after by collectors.
